changing seasons

Okay, I've been away for a bit of time.  Two months or so.  Holiday time does that to me.  So does travel.  I get all out of sync and my normal schedule goes haywire.  I'm probably no different than alot of you.  I have been thrifting during this time, though.  I can't seem to NOT do that part.  Always on the hunt for a bargain.

I've been working on a few small remakes.  Two are part of my Easter decorations this year.  Nothing big, but still fun to do.

I found an 'easter tree' my dad made for me.  I like it; I've used it in the past and want to use it again.  For some reason, this year, the color was a problem.  I wasn't crazy about the pink.  So, I had to do something.

I had some green paper that I cut into strips and pulled out my mod podge.  An hour later, I had a different looking tree.   Yep, this would do.

I don't have any little easter ornaments to hang from it.  So, I did the next best thing...I added some bling.  I used napkin rings my daughter, Emily, helped me make for her college graduation party (that was in 2008).  Beads on wire.   All those pretty colors makes me smile.

Wrapping them around the tree was as easy as it comes.

Here's the full picture.  Simple, pretty and a good decoration piece.

Here's the other decoration I made.  Well, not this picture; this is the inspiration I found on Pinterest.  This is crocheted edges on pillowcases.  Isn't it springy?  and happy?  and makes you want a room full of them?  Yea, that's the effect it has on me too.

I used a creamy white placemat with white baby yarn.  I know, not very exciting to look at, really.  But, in every way, it's very pratical.  Plus, I didn't have to pull out my sewing machine or go through my piles of fabric.  This placemat has an interesting texture and would make a very pretty table runner.

I found a really excellent tutorial that explains all the steps on You Go Girl.  You need to check it out.  Really easy to follow!  Sewing on a blanket stitch so the scalloped edge could be crocheted was the toughest part.  But what pretty results, right?

Here's my bunny resting on top of it.  Surrounded by green and white buttons and these little round paper balls I made in December.  Kinda fun all around!

So easy and pretty.  I'm all about that.
